Why did people in the '80s need their legs warmer than people today?

Well here I am, wondering why leg warmers ever went out of style when, suddenly, it hit me!! It's warm even in the dead of January!! WTF?!

Here are the statistics:

Srsly, tho'

If that stuff was intended to warm legs, why do people no longer care about leg warmth?

I came in expecting Jane Fonda, but Olivia is pretty close.

I'd mention another old girlfriend, but those stories are getting old fast to people I imagine.

Came in expecting to see short skirts... Disappointed.

Global warming. Back then we were contemplating the possibility of a new ice age looming and our legs were in need of supplemental heat. Now the planet is like 10 seconds away from spontaneously bursting into flame and our legs are toasty on their own. In fact, the next fashion trend will be hip waders to protect legs from rising sea levels.

Bad metrics. They just fiddled with the formula a bit and re-marketed the sleeker get-up as yoga pants

Throughout the 70's all these kids heard was talk about global cooling. They were just being prepared.
