Why did my new Logitech MX700 mouse stop working?

I just got a new PC yesterday, charged up the mouse, it worked. Had the machine on and off a few times. Now today the mouse works on the XP screen where I click to sign on as Administrator. But then when it gets to the desktop it stops working. I pressed the connect button and nothing happens.

I can't tell you why, but I will say that mines been acting weird lately also, and I can't figure out why. It won't work sometimes when I come back out of standby or startup, at least not until I hit connect on the charger and connect on the mouse, and then it's fine. It's not the batteries, as I have tried brand new ones. I can't figure it out, not that I have put any real time into trying though.

I put my MX700 charger base on a separate surge line strip, so the batteries can be charged all the time. I don't know if this will help or not.

Just a thought.

BTW, when you press connect, you're doing it on both the mouse and the charging station right? You press connect on the charging station, then with the light on you press connect on the mouse.

The only time my MX700 gave me any problems was when I had the charger/base to far away from the mouse pad. Try putting the base right next to the mouse pad and see if things get any better.

The mouse is all charged up.... I pressed all the connect buttons...
I think the mouse is fine. It works for the opening screen. Also the wireless keyboard works fine.

It seems like maybe there is a piece of software that is killing the mouse when the desktop loads....

I installed Zonealarm... Spybot....

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try uninstalling the mouseware software, or whatever its called. I think that when it works at the login screen, but then stops after boot up its because the mouseware software loaded and isn't working. At least thats been my experience.

If you haven't installed anything...then I dunno.
