Why did my HD Tach score go from 58 MB/s to 44 MB/s after switching motherboard??

Switched from Asus P3v4x to Asus K7M. HD is Maxtor 13.6 GB 7200 RPM IDE ATA-66. I didn't do a fresh install but isn't the south bridge VIA chipset the same on both boards??
