I have a 1ghz 200mhz TBird that has been running on a Gigabyte 7ZX-1 with a Super ORB for 7+ Months and today it decicded to burn out? I was using the Super ORB along with arctic silver 2. I had just gotten the new BiOS chip I needed a few days ago and got it up and running with a fresh install of Win2k every thing was fine untill I booted it up today, it got almost into W2k and the monitor just went black. After trying different things I pulled the CPU and there was what looked to be a burn mark but it felt more like grease and just rubbed off. I threw my 1.4ghz in it (Thank god i have a second comp) and it boots up fine (using a FOP38 not the orb). Why would this just happen? I have two pictures of the bottom of the ORB which I can post, the core of the CPU looks fine though *weird*.

super orbs suck......atleast in comparison to whats become available....but my opinion on that aside...do you overclock and what was the temperature of the cpu at load......also its possible it just died no fault of yours or the orbs lack of coolness...lol...it is an electrical component ya know...everythings gotta die sometime

No the fan didn't quit. My temps were 32idle and 44 under full load. This fan worked good ( I thought up till now) for this CPU. I didn't OC at all since the board really can't overclock much any way. It might have just died I guess cause there are no burn marks or damage to the chip I can see.
