dude they are 12

what do you expect?

Well the great thing about nerds is they know their stuff.
So, this being the uber-nerd forum, I expected lots of adolescents running around with their swords out.
Jason, from FoxTrot, surely wonders the same thing, "Why did Joseph Campbell ignore Tolkien?"

Mythos books ( believe) published his stuff in '49 and his works were from the 40s. LOTR was published in 1954

Gah, I hate when I screw up

Campbell is not a fantasy writer, he did incredible stuff with the Hero myth, he was consulted for Star wars, and there is a definite connection to be made with LOTRs

hell there are connections EVERYWHERE in life

I think you are onto something.
Most of Campbell's books were written too early to include Tolkien.
Were he to write today, Tolkien would be impossible to ignore.

If you are 12 and don't know who Joseph Campbell is, it is ok.
If you are 12 and don't know who Tolkien is, it is not ok.
If you have been to college and still do not know who Joseph Campbell is, get a tuition refund.

The Hero myth cycle was cool, we did used that for a analysis of Star Wars in my film class. It can be applied to practicaly anything, Tolkien would work.
