Why did I spend this much on my PC?

Old system:
A64-2800 S754
Asus K8V SE Deluxe
1gb of decent RAM (no, I don't remember all the BS specs, nor do I CARE)
1300gb of overall total disk space
Enermax 350w from like 6 years ago
R9600XT 256mb

New system, $800 later:
A64-3700 S939
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
2gb of decent RAM
1300gb of overall disk space
Antec TruePowerII 450w
GF7800GT 256mb

... Since then, the ONLY game I've played is Counterstrike 1.6. For like, 2 hours. In the past 3 months. The RAM and PSU can be justified - because my average memory usage on this workstation is presently sitting around 1.5gb, and that 350w PSU was starting to worry me with those HDDs. But the rest.... I dunno, man. I spent $600 on a CPU, mobo and video card that I'm really yet to use.

Because otherwise you would be stuck with AGP which is hitting a dead end in upgread path.

if you feel guilty you can always just donate the system to me, since I'm still using an AthlonXP 2000 on an A7V333 with 512MB of ram and a GeForce 4 4200.

.... What part of "ill advised upgrade" do you not understand? When you don't need to upgrade, what are you concerned with upgrade path for?

I don't get why people are spending so much on 3700's when they can spend a small amount more and get a dual core.

At the time, it was a $200 difference on a $300 chip.
