It is 30mm because it is 1920x1200 😉 , same rez as 23-24 inchers. Good for (older presbyopic) people who have trouble seeing all the small stuff on-screen

Actually, the pixel density (7030 pixels / sq. in) is only 5.5% lower than on a 19-inch 5:4 monitor (7440 pixels / sq. in.). Check it at http://www.tvcalculator.com/

The true question about the 27-inch Dell is Why so expensive compared to the 24-inch model?

For the next step up in resolution, one has to move to a 30-inch diagonal.
