Why couldn't I connect to my hosting package via specific FTP Clients?

Actually, I'm new to the domain, hosting services sector. I'm just trying to get myself developed in web development and web app designing and hence purchased a domain and a hosting package, outright. I was able to set it up normally and began using it.

And while using through FTP, I noticed that i was able to connect using fireFTP extension in Firefox, but the connection was refused if I used CyberDuck, fileZilla, Terminal etc.
Can some one, kindly help me with this?
 
What hosting company?
If it works with one FTP client, but, not another, then it usually is a configuration issue.

The service provider is ecowebhosting.co.uk

I sent their customer service an email. They responded very well.
But couldn't quite solve the issue. They rather thought that, since it works with one FTP client but not others, I was configuring it wrong.
I'm not quite sure if you are saying the same or that configuration on their end is an issue.
Please continue helping if you could. 🙂
