Why can't we have 2nd video options during TV?

A lot of shows have a 2nd audio option, for Spanish, etc. Why can't we have a video option?
I'm tired of coming home from work, just wanting to relax, and every station I want to watch has a live interruption. (President, and so forth). I'll catch up on those online or in the paper. I just want to watch some tv.
Why can't they stream two broadcasts, and let us pick what to watch? Simpsons or Live News...
Isn't that possible? They can do it with audio, why not video?

Seriously, how many times does the President inturrupt your TV viewing? Or even the News? Its happened to me like 3 times in the past 5 years, and 1 was september 11th.

You'd have a bandwidth problem, sound is probably only 2% of the signal.
