Why cant we go back to slingshots and spears?

The only way that'll happen is if civilization completely falls apart for a long time. Think about it.. if some jackass a few miles down the road raises an army and comes to take your land by force of spears and slingshot, you're going to do whatever you can to defend what you've got; if you have to whip out the M16s and the smart bombs, you do it..

LOL. You think war is brutal now? Spears, swords, etc... are a nasty way to get wounded/killed.

Are you kidding? The murder rates would skyrocket!! The law would never be able to prove anything. Have you ever tried to do ballistics tests on a spear? Trace metal analysis on somebody who fired a slingshot? And how about the anarchy when 10 year olds around the country are rounded up and shipped off to prison for refusing to register their slingshots as deadly weapons.

Give everyone their own personal nuke. You'd never see anyone cut you off in traffic again. We'd turn into the most polite society on the planet.
