:) And now that Jeremy Clarkson is back, it's now an hour long, and they've switched to their new "studio" setup, it's become so much better IMO :D

We have Motor Trend week, which is shown commercial free on PBS. I don't like the narrator's voice though.

because in teh US we do not like "free speech"..

Jeremy clarkson would have been off the air long back forced by lawsuits if it ever aired here.. Companies dont like negative reports. More over the press dont really have a freedom of speech we so say by the consititution..

BBC is a british govt funded channel and yet teh queen or the prime minister or the cabinet has NO SAY over what they air or not.. they only provide the funds to the channel and that's it.. what BBC airs is in its own discreetion..

To do that in the US is impossible esp with teh FCC and the US govt looking at every move out there. Also we have a lot of Sue happy ppl in this country who create lawsuits for the reason that they dont have enough brains to turn off the damn channel. Plus most channels here are commerical channels they only air what they will make money for them.. otherwise those go to the trash bin. I like UPN 13 because they dont give a fsck even though FOX owns them in LA. They have shown some raunchy stuff .. and they can do it becaues no body watches them anyway (besides me).

Also PBS program is MotorWeek (not MotorTrend - TNN - ). I agree the format is great but their voice overs are horrid. They are the closest to Top Gear.

If you want to get BBC world you just need the satellite name, the frequency and the place where the satellite is located in the sky and you can receive it. Its a FTA (Free To Air) channel.

I tried charter comm to give it to me but they wouldnt..

Anyway Fear NOT. I have been working with some ppl ( the original group didnt have faith in me - stupid fscks.. they are no bankrupt because they didnt want to go my way) but the new ppl I am talking to will be brining either the show or have a similar show in the US. So hold on ... I met Ian this afternoon regarding this.. he is excited (like teh earlier group) but lets see where this goes. I have more faith in Ian than the other group who were there for the money potential. My philosphy and Ian's Philosphy are very simlar so it might work this time.

Say someone were to record Top Gear in UK and put it on the web, would it be legal to distribute it in the US via the web? How come no one is doing this? We get all the Alizee and Tatu videos we want, but no one does this? I have never looked, but I am sure that there is some newsgroup about this. If there is one called alt.binaries.sheep.ba.ba.ba, then I am sure there is also one called alt.binaries.TopGear

I receive it on BBC World, and my provider is Bell ExpressVu.

I don't know a whole lot about C-Band satellite, but maybe the above link helps?

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for contacting Charter Communications, a Wired World Company.
We appreciate the opportunity to serve you.

I have submitted a request for the BBC WORLD Channel to be added to the
regular channel line up in your local area.

Our customers are always considered in decisions such as these but
unfortunately we are also bound by other factors including FCC regulation,
bandwidth constraints, network contracts, and financial constraints. We
understand the popularity of some specific channels and we would love
to be able to provide every channel that our customers request, however
we have limited bandwidth space. With the introduction of digital
technology, we are able to expand the number of channels that can be
provided in 1 bandwidth frequency. This does provide for the availability of
more channels, however there are reasons that keep some networks from
getting access to our digital service. The primary factor is our
contractual obligation. When we add a channel/network to our lineup we must
come to an acceptable contract agreement with that channel/network. ESPN
for example requires that their network be carried on an expanded basic
level and within a specific range of channels. For this reason ma!
ny of the digital channels cannot be replaced with others from our
expanded service to make room for additional channel numbers.

We care about the opinions of all of our customers and will keep yours
in mind as we continually explore new lineup possibilities. We hope in
the future we will be able to bring popular stations to your area. In
the meantime please understand the hurdles we face when situations like
this occur and be assured we are working with you, the customer, in
mind.
