Why cant we edit topic titles?

yeah i was just trying to edit my FS: thread title... kind of an important feature. hopefully it will be implemented soon

vB has it disabled by default, but i think it can be enabled in the admin settings.

Yup. Stupid not to be able to change thread or post titles. I like to be able to clean up any misspellings and to revise for new items, drop items in FS/T, etc..

Can one of you try to edit your own thread title in the FST forum now? You have to edit the first post in the thread. It should work now, but want to be sure 🙂

Well, I tried to edit my FS/T thread (linked below) and I guess it ate its tail, as when I clicked on the "Go Advanced" button, I got a message that said I need to delete some stuff from my top post as there is some limit on size - I think I noticed a 10,000 character limit and my top post, it said, is over 30,000 chars. IAC I couldn't edit the title. I'll try one of my post titles. Need to up that limit! But it does look like you can edit the title on the "GoAdvanced" editing page...

I had to click on the "Go Advanced" button to get to the title field on my post - I got the length warning

PS: on http://www.techimo.com, if you edit the "title" it only changes the title on the post, not on the thread. but then, I don't think they offer the "GoAdvanced" button there. .bh.

You have to click the advance editing button to access title editing.

Well, No.1, you don't mention whether you did edit a thread title and it worked and didn't just change the title on your top post. On TIMO, the title edit field only changes the POST title, not the THREAD title.

I just tested this in my "Posting pictures" thread and it works. The THREAD TITLE got changed.

I just tried it in the DC forum & it still doesn't change the thread title, only the post title.
Or is this just for the FS/FT forum?

I just tried to edit my thread title in the Peripherals section - only the post title changes, not the thread, so it must be FS/T only. GoAdvanced complains about my post length - that needs fixed. 10000 chars is nothing to me.
