He is not a moron. I am pretty sure they used to say that it can't be removed [by anyone] about ten years ago. Now they say it can't be removed by anyone but the consumer.

no, you can after you purchased it, manufacturer and the retailers and wholesalers can't. same thing with fabric furnature and mass produced pillows. they have to list the materials in case you have an allergic reaction to whatever it's made of (polyester, etc.)

That may or may not be true, but the 10 year mark is definately false. The tag joke has been around a lot longer than that and I remember as a child ~15 years ago they all said the consumer can remove them. Before that, I do not know.

Even if by chance it doesn't say 'except by the consumer' (which all of them do for as long as i remembered), does it really take a genius to figure out that it's only meant for a retailer?
