They seem to be able to do everything else...

Voice Recorders, FM Transmitters, Digital Camera Connections, etc....

do they have ipod car connectors -- that being the ability to plug in the ipod into the car radio (somehow) to get the car's speakers to play music from the ipod?

if not, then there are 2 items that ipod is lacking in in the addon department.

(if so, link me to one please. i need it for roadtrips.) 🙂

yeah, there's many ways to do that

if you have a tape deck, you can get the tape deck connector

otherwise, you can use the Griffin iTrip radio transmitter

edit: what iPod do you have?

You are basically asking them to duct tape a small FM radio to the Ipod. It isn't an addon because listening to FM radio is not going to utilize the ipod in any way.

Why not make the iPod control the FM tuner? Simular to how the FM Transmitter on the iTrip is controlled on the iPod.

Why though. Why? You have 15-60 gigs of music at yor fingertips, what possible use it there for FM?

Sports radio? talk shows? npr?

If you make an FM tuner, what do you need the ipod for?

If it is small and tunes in the FM band, then put a headphone jack on it and be done.

If you are thinking about using the ipod to record FM, then you'd constantly be writing to the hard drive which is what uses up the ipod's battery.

Also alot of car cd players have auxiliary inputs in the front or in the rear that can be ran to the front or the glove compartment. With that you can just run the audio in through a regular minijack cord, which is what I currently do.

I do.

The gym broadcasts its tv stations on FM frequencies and sometimes i would like to listen in.
