Why can't Nvidia cards alt-tab out of quake 3?

Its the program, not that card that would inhibit this. Dont know why Q3 would not do this as I am a UT person.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought I heard this mentioned that Nvidia cards can't do it... I just don't understand why it's such a big deal for me to alt tab out of q3 because it's annoying not being able to.

No it's software. I remember it being an issue in a "Bug fix" and was stopped in a Point release. There was a problem in that when you task switched to the desktop and tried to task switch back, Q3A would not initialise. Don't thinks it nVidia as I know Serious Sam does it fine.
