why? remotes are sooooo nice. mp3 players are pretty cool. but the only thing holding me back from getting a mp3 player is the lack of a remote! why? is it that hard to do? sony can do it, why can't archos? grr.

nomad II has a remote. a crappy one at best, but it's a remote. I guess most of the time they think it will be in your pocket so you'll just pull it out and change it. there aint enough demand to put in a nice remote.

the new ibm mp3 player with the microdrive and e.digital microOS doesn't have a remote, but it *is* voice-controlled... and it's firmware upgradeable, so when new audio formats come out, there's no need to buy a new player to support them, you just flash the firmware on the player you have...

it's actually an e.digital branded mp3 player (the MXP100) but it was designed in a partnership with IBM over the last year.. here's the ibm page on it

the e.digital page is at www.edig.com

the MXP100 supports the microdrive up to 1Gb currently, and it's also a voice-recorder as well as a music player...
