Why cant Microsoft Game Studios produce a game FOR THEIR OWN CONSOLE that doesnt suck?

ive rented like 15 MS titles now for my xbox, and every single title produced by MS game studios is horrible. The game i just played "The great escape" is a new release from MS, and its absolutely unplayable terrible. Poor acting, poor gameflow, crappy controls, crappy graphics, crappy sfx. I played it to about halfway through the second level before i said Fvck this.

I just think its sad that MS cant make a good game for their own console...

Gawd... they have so much freakin money Gates over there could fund a game like Doom 3 exclusively for Xbox... everyone would buy it and be happy. Sure its not that easy but I'm sure they got all the funding they'd need...

exactly, sell the console at a loss then come out with a bunch of low budget terrible games that dont even push the hardware? Doesn't sound like great market strategy to me.

Halo 2 and Doom 3 will both be good, but i heard MS aquired Bungie so even Halo 2 might suck... Whats that new game coming out for Xbox thats supposed to be the "GTA Killer"?

Um, MS owned Bungie long before the original Halo came out. It was originally supposed to be a PC game, and then Microsoft bought Bungie and switched production onto the X-Box halfway through development, giving them plenty of time to screw it up if that is their thing.

AFAIK the game was near complete when MS aquired bungie. I figure if MS pulled their usual crap they just cut the budget by 75% and forced the developers to make a new game based on the same graphics engine with some spice. But from what i hear the MP is gonna be VERY good. Xbox live with a ton of players.

You're missing out on some AAA titles like Moto GP 1/2, Brute Force, Splinter Cell, Star Wars : Knights of the Old Repblic...

I hardly consider MechAssault to be one of Xbox's top 2 games....sure the multi is cool, but the singleplayer sucks. I sold it too because I got bored.

I find it hard to have multiple games on the go, so I'll go through phases. Right now it's KOTOR. Beat it on dark side, now working through it on light side with a completely different character and it doesn't seem repetitive at all.

never played moto GP, brute force was horrible, beat splinter cell in one rental session (was good tho), and i avoid star wars ANYTHING.

I give this rant a 1/10. Just ultra weak. If you're so dissatisfied with it go buy a PS2 and stop whining. I'm sure you can find some game out of like 400+ PS2 titles (not including PS1) that'll make you happy

its not about the console... im saying MS's titles suck, there are a bunch of non-ms titles that are good. But what i dont understand is why the largest software company in the world, run by one of the richest men alive, cant produce a game for their own console thats any good.

You missed a step.

Halo was a Mac-exclusive.
Then Bungie realized the folly of marketing to a whopping 2% of their target audience.
MS bought them out.

That's practically the sole reason I own a Gamecube is for the Nintendo produced games, but then Nintendo's been in the gaming business for how long now? Just video consoles alone it's been over 20 years. You can't expect Microsoft to overnight assemble teams of game designers that produce Nintendo, Sega, Squaresoft, Namco, etc. titles overnight, in that time. Hell, most games today take 2 years or more to produce if it's a classy, all out title. They're just getting started. Give 'em a break!

but FYI it'll be available for PS2 as well, but the xbox version will have better graphics because of the superior hardware, as well as some added functionality because of the hard drive.

Exactly. People seem to forget that the first year of PS2's existence was plagued with B-grade titles. It wasnt until 2001-2002 that the real good games started coming out.

Any 1st and 2nd gen console games will suck just because of the hurried development schedules to coincide with launches and certain key dates. Once a title has been in production for a while, more liberties can be taken for launches, then we start getting quality games like KOTOR.
