Why can't microsoft fix copying of files in windows? rant

This is a problem on every windows version, even vista... They can add a 3d gui, but they can't add a skip button for file copying. If for some reason one file out of the 5000 files I'm copying won't copy for whatever reason it's gotta cancel the whole transfer and make me dig through to check what has already copied and what hasn't or start the entire transfer again and hope that it doesn't stop it again...

mac osx lets you skip, gnome in unix/linux let's you skip a file that won't copy for some reason! It's such an incredibly advanced feature i know...

No sh!t. MS does all this crazy 3D stuff with there OS but won't fix a basic problem. :|

The file copying is bad. But in the Task Manager, the Performance and Network trends dont start historizing until you click on the respective tabs. WTF?

The bug I hate is with the taskbar. If I get so many windows open that it starts another line, sometimes when I scroll down and click on a window on the lower row of window icons, it just bounces me back to the top row of icons without switching me to the window I want.

I want a Mac, but I'll not be able to afford one until I'm out of college. Sure I could sell my PC, but I'm not ready to give it up entirely just yet. The lack of game support would be a problem too.

that and trying to select just a few more things than are in the window. it's impossible. windows scrolls up/down far too fast. maybe vista with a new UI has fixed it, but i'm doubtful.

wait you're actually using vista? i'm still waiting for the service pack for it.

No in this case XP, however I've tried vista and the same problem still exists.

just use the command line copy, and enable the parameter to ignore errors.
Agreed.

XCOPY /C <SOURCE> <TARGET>

Yeah, I could do that, there's also third party software that will allow for intelligent copying, however a full license of xp pro retails for $299 and they can't include a skip button?
