I have a amd64 3200+ and x2 3800+ and both of those freeze when I set FSB to 220 and higher. I have the Asrock 939Dual-Sata2 mobo and according to everyone else it should go up to 274 no problem..

What about the ram ? Did you lower the ram divider? You might have extremely shitty ram that simply won't run above 440mhz, assuming it's ddr400mhz ram, with the stock voltage/timings?

And the HT multiplier might be an issue as well, but 1100 shouldn't immediatly cause things to hang, it at least didn't do that to me.

Yah, I did set the ram divider so it works, probably was the HT link, I only set the CPU-NB but forgot the NB-SB one. Now it's ok :p Thanks!

True, I should have linked him here, in my first post: how to overclock Athlon 64's.

That seems to depend totally on the processor. I've owned about 6 different Athlon 64's, and one of them was a Clawhammer core; it would only post up to 205 Mhz, without lowering the HT multiplier. At 206 Mhz, you had to reset the BIOS. Others would go higher, to varying degrees, and my Opteron 170 would do ~1200.

Cool thanks, I just have it at 245@1.275 right now. For some reason HTT 4x and 250 don't mix even though they add up to (multiply up to?) 1000, so I have to fall back to 245. Thanks again for the help.

Quick question, ram timings....important?

Yes very important for stability. Voltage of ram can do wonders too, my value ram for example is rated at 2.5-2.7v. Stock is 2.6v, but I put it at 2.7v just to make sure it had enough juice.

Study up on how to 'loosen' your timings - once you reach your desired OC you can tweak 'em for best performance
