Why can't I unsubscribe from any thread??

I've tried on Firefox (various versions) and Edge. I don't do Chrome. What is the problem. I've turned off blockers, all extensions - no mas.
 
The site wasn't loading right for me a couple hours ago but it was only a momentary problem, though I just clicked an emailed notification to unsubscribe and checked the topic and I'm still watching it.

I assume this is a failure and the topic should have then been unwatched?

If I then click "Unwatch" at the top of the topic it does then seem to work, reloading the topic shows it's no longer watched.

Yes, maybe I should have phrased it that way. I have not been able to 'unwatch' threads for a few years.
