Okay, I get Vista installed, get all the drivers updated to the latest and greatest drivers. Run the Windows update t'll it stops. Open internet explorer surf around go to yahoo.... crash.... open internet explorer again go to yahoo.... crash.... Install one of my games run it for 10 minutes.... crash.... crash again, again, AND AGAIN!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!

Now is Vista a Lemon? or is there something wrong with this config?

E6600 Core 2 Duo 2.4 (OC'd to 3.59)
EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
Tuniq Tower 120 P4 & K8 CPU Cooler
OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W Power Supply
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
COOLER MASTER Stacker 810 RC-810-SSN1 Silver w/2 xtra 80mm fans
(2)Sli EVGA 320-P2-N815-AR GeForce 8800GTS Superclocked 320MB
(2)Raid 0 Seagate Baracuda 250GB Hard Drives

It really looks to me like Vista is the new ME. It just doesn't work.

Comparing Vista to ME ?....you are joking right, more like PIBKAC (Problem is between keyboard and chair).
Vista is more sensitive to overclocking then XP.
Any new install of OS should be done at default speeds with no overclocking like nismotigerwvu suggested to rule out overclocking issues and also easier to check stability etc..

There is something really wrong with your install. I had to go from 2.6->2.4 on my overclock as vista prime95 failed on vista side which is a good enough reason to drop down. Also another guess is it might be you raid too. You might want to start stock with normal HDD non-raid and see if it helps. Also check you mem speed and voltage as vista will use every bit of your ram and if there is an issue with your ram i am sure vista will find it.

But personally i do not see why everyone hates vista, with the Britt's banning it from school and such. I do not see anything wrong with vista at all, i actually think the my upgrade from xp -> vista was better than win2k -> winxp. I do not know, maybe everyone thinks it should be an upgrade difference from winMe -> WinXP, which in that case WinMe was a mistake and it should be forgotten. I think there are more improvements from going to vista from xp than it was from 2k to xp.

Agree... I feel vista is a very worthy upgrade. In no way should it be considered a WinMe!

That's a possibility. I went thru utter hell last week trying to install Vista on a friend's Dell XPS 400. Of the three primary causes, one was the fact that I didn't know that RAID must be either turned off or set to Auto Detect in the BIOS before installing Vista. I'm not certain if this was only an issue with Dell XPS PC's or all PCs, but the impression I got from Microsoft tech support was that it's an issue with all. It sure wreaked havoc with my installation attempt. I also had to update the mobo's BIOS. Before I did that, the machine would crash & reboot the instant I closed Internet Explorer. :frown: There were also problems that the Upgrade Advisor utility had identified as software that "might not fully work" with Vista: software and driver issues that also wreaked havoc with the install because I didn't remove all traces of them from the computer before starting the in-place upgrade attempt.

And for the record, the Upgrade Advisor scan said nothing about disabling RAID in the BIOS first or updating the mobo BIOS. Microsoft & Dell just let me go thru hours & hours of troubleshooting hell instead.
