why cant i run a VM?

I cant seem to be able to run any Microsoft virtual machine software. It keeps saying my operating system is not compatible.

Is there any way to get a free virtual machine running?

Im using 32 xp home basic

which version of microsoft virtual machine are you trying to use? Which Service Pack of Windows XP do you have? Did you download the 32bit or 64bit of virtual machine?
