Hey guys... I think I need some help... I'm kinda new to this. I just got a Duron 750 and a Asus A7V and I don't know what the steps are to overclocking my chip. Please tell me what I did wrong...
1) Unlocked chip
2) changed the multiplier
3) maxed the voltage
4) change the FSB

What happened was that I first changed the multipier on my Duron 750 to 900 and it worked most of the time. Then I tried 950 and things started not to work in my windows screen. So I changed it back to 900 and upped the FSB from 100 to 103 giving me 927. Is that the maximum I can go or is there something I'm missing. Cause I know a lot of you guys have experience doing this and I see that you can hit 1ghz very easy. I appreciate your help guys!

Hey Renob... does the RAM really make that big of a difference? You think I should be able to o/c to 1 ghz?

I'm running about 45 degrees at 927mhz. I have a 300w Antec power supply. Have 4 cooling fans and a Global Win. Thanks.

don't set it at fsb+pci... set it at "fsb" or equivelant setting..

setting it to fsb+pci sets the ram to 133mhz, or higher.

i'll lay it down for you itsmeeh.

when you go into the bios and go to the second menu from the left, you can change all the voltage and stuff there right? well, since you just have pc100 ram, leave the ram setting at 100mhz. since it's generic, change the cas settings to 3,3,3. that might help you out too. the cas settings appear all greyed out at first, but if you change the setting right above those numbers to USER DEFINE, you can change them. it'll sacrifice some performance going to cas3 from cas2, but it might be outweighed by the higher fsb. the only way to tell is to run some benchmarks under both settings. i already told you about the pci situation in my other post, so i won't go into it here. you can tell what bios you have by watching the post screen closely. before it lists all the master/slave crap, it'll say BIOS REVISION 1004C or comething like that. either tight above or right below the chip speed. if you have Sysoft Sandra installed, you can run system information and that'll tell you what bios you're running too. any other questions?

here's a thought: what did you use to unlock the processor? did you do the pencil trick, or did you do the real deal as outlined by Vpham97 here? typically those who have done the unlocking thing with the loctite defogger kit can up their multiplier to a higher setting than those who did it with a pencil. that doesn't help your fsb quandry, but i'm just post what i can think of as i think of it. :)
