I recently got a worm called I.Netsky. It really messed up my latency. I cleaned out thousands of infected files with AVG and it (and the latency problem) went away. But not it's back! I ran scans with AVG and NAV2004, but they can't find it. Yet every couple of days, AVG will find an infected file all by itself somehow. And it's really annoying me because my latency is horrible because of it. How do i destroy it once and for all?!

Although I've never personally had worms, I hear it's not pleasent. See a doctor and he'll get you fixed up in no time.

I've had 200 instances of netsky get nabbed by my Exchange box virus scanner in the last 2 hours.

Check the Norton/McAfee sites for removal instructions, there might be some. Otherwise, you'll need to fdisk /mbr to clear the boot sector and then format all your partitions. I recently had to get rid of the gaobot virus and even a format alone didn't get rid of it.

formatting won't help you if you don't update xp with all the patches, about 45meg which takes about 30min to an hour and have firewall enabled.
you'll just get it all over again.
