Why can't i get past the Win2k logon screen!?

Hi guys and galls

I've just build my own system for the first time ever and surprisingly it seems to work quite well. It was booting up fine, and everything seemed to work ok. checked system statistics and it was running at 36C, etc. Then I installed win2k and things started to go wrong!

Well nothing's actually gone wrong as in I'm not getting any error messages but every time I try to logon to win2k the pc shuts itself down. From what I gather it's actually going into standby mode, seeing when i try to switch it of via the power switch it shows the, now logged on, screen again and then powers down..

I've got a Gigabyte GA-8IHXP Mobo, 420W PSU, and a 80G GXP120 IBM HD

Anyone got any suggestions?

THanks
