Why can't I download Java Virtual Machine?

Every time I go to a page that requires Java Virtual machine I get the window that says "Would you like to download java virtual machine?" I click yes, it downloads an 18kb file. The windows pops up again, I download again, and I get redirected to microsoft's download page. What am I doing wrong?

try going directly to java.sun.com and downloading their virtual machine. It should have a download link off of that page.

MS' one no longer works. I tried and tried and tried with not success to get it to work. Sun's work just as good as MS'.

Transitioning from the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine

October 7, 2003

Microsoft is committed to helping customers through the transition off the Microsoft® Java Virtual Machine (MSJVM). Recognizing the need to provide a smooth transition for current users of the MSJVM, Sun Microsystems and Microsoft have agreed to extend Microsoft's license to use Sun's Java source code and compatibility test suites. This extension allows Microsoft to support the MSJVM until September 30, 2004, and gives Microsoft the ability to address potential security issues, effectively giving customers another year to manage the transition. Microsoft is committed to supporting MSJVM throughout this extended period.
