why cant i delete the partition?

im reinstalling windows xp cause of a error message i got..... and well im going through.. pushing d to delete partition.. then l....
but icant delete it.. and it says its a bad idea to load two os on the same partition... what do i do

You have to remove LOGICAL partitions before you delete the PHYSICAL partition.
