Why can't I buy a DSL modem? I need a little help please.

I just want to get a my DSL up and running. It is active on my line but I have not modem to run it to my computer. I can't find anyplace that will sell me a DSL modem =(.

make sure you get one that will work with your DSL provider, Westell and Efficient are popular brands.

They don't have a Brick and mortar place I could go pick one up anywhere?

Know the modulation your DSL provider uses (example PPPoE or PPPoA) and figure out the VCI/VPI for the PVC activated and buy the modem. Personally, I love the Cayman DSL Modem/Router. Don't bother buying an internal modem for your computer. Go with like a Cayman or the new 2wire modem/router.

I would love to get any kind of modem!!! I really would... but no place around here sells them =(
Does anybody know a store that would sell a DSL modem?

Most DSL hardware is provided by the service provider. There is more than one type of DSL out there (DMT, CAP, GLITE), plus the whole PPP/PPPoE thing. Do you know what kind of line you'll be connecting to?

I'm not exactly sure the exact type of DSL, but this is the list of compatible modems they gave me.

And they did send me a modem. UPS fricked up my delivery and now my modem is lost in Bangcock somewhere and Bellsouth doesn't want to send me another and Ups is saying I got my modem. Figure that one out.

I have a westell I can sell you, but I dont think thats in the compatible modems. But than again I got it from bellatlantic, or verizon. I never used it.
