I cannot boot of a CD-ROM for the life of me and I cannot figure out why. Never had this problem before.
Boot the computer up, and I want it to boot off a CD-ROM. Load up Windows XP in the drive, and when it comes time to boot the disc, it says "No Emulation" and has a blinking cursor and the system is frozen.
Popped in a Windows 98 1st Edition since it is bootable, and when it comes time to boot the disc, it freezes with a blank screen and the same blinking cursor.
I say the computer freezes because all that comes up is a blinking cursor on the screen, and Ctrl+Alt+Del does not work. I also hit the Num Lock button to see if it toggles the light on the keyboard and it doesnt work. I have to hard reset the machine...
Cant figure it out so any guidance would sure be appreciated...thanks.
I dont think the hardware matters, but it's an Asus AV600 Mobo with the newest 1008 BIOS and an AMD XP 2700 installed.
