Why can't I actually use the divx codec in MMC?

Everytime I go and select AVI format, then pick divx codec, but the configure button is still always greyed out and it's not actually using the divx codec cause there's only like 2 minutes left on the drive since its just uncompressed avi. I thought maybe by 7.5 it would have worked but MMC 7.1, 7.2, and now 7.5 never work for me!

The TV-Wonder or All-In-Wonder is made to accelerate Mpeg2 decoding in hardware, not DiVX. That may be the reason the software doesn't want you to use it. Either way, just use VirtualDub, much better capture quality than ATI's software.

People on Rage3d say that they capture directly to divx (yah it's doing it in software but I got a pretty fast comp so I should be able to) from ATi's proggie but I can never select the codec. Actually, even if I wanted to do some other codec like cinepak thingy, it still doesn't actually pick the codec, because its just avi, no codec, since I only have like 2-3 minutes even though I have 2gb+ of hard drive space left.

Yes I've done it in VDub before but I just can't ever get VDub to work properly. I actually like ATi's thing, if only I could capture in divx.

Not true, MMC uses Ligos GoMotion software mpeg compression. You can set the divx parameters in another program (virtualdub for instance) or better yet use Mp4def to set the DIVX parameters. It works great for MMC, just remember it will use the parameters you set until you change them again.

Good luck!

also IMHO MMC's adaptive deinterlace and excellent mpeg capture makes it superior to any of the capture software I've tried, you just gotta know how to use it.
