Why can't I access the Dell 2407WFP Wide Mode options?

Can someone please explain why I can not access the Dell 2407WFP Wide Mode options? If I go to Menu/Display Settings I can't change the Wide Mode to 1:1. It's set on Fill and I can't change it.

I'm really starting to get pissed because there is a bug in NVIDIA's 8800 drivers that don't let your turn off the Flat Panel Scaling and now I can't even turn it off with my monitor menu.

Is there a reason I can't change the monitor to 1:1?

I'm trying to play Rainbow Six: Vegas and off course Ubi decided not to support widescreen resolutions (bastards) so I have to run the game at 1600x1200. I don't want to scale this to fit my screen. I'd much rather have black bars on the side then look at a stretched image.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Apparently only the new Rev. A04 2407wfp supports 1:1 mapping. They just started shipping them out, I ordered a 2407wfp on Saturday and it arrived today. Sadly, its a Rev. A03.

I am equally annoyed with this problem. I wonder if I can get the Monitor replaced by Dell... =\

This is complete BS!

I'm going to contact Dell tomorrow and bitch up a storm. :|

Ya, its a bit of a bummer, there's a thread about it going on over on HardForums. Seems like Dell isn't being too accomodating with replacement requests, and even though I'm in a pretty good positon to get mine replaced (just got it yesterday), I probably won't. Dell Customer Service is a pain in the ass and I already shelled out $20 to ship back the 22" for the 24". Plus, there's the good chance the replacement they send won't even be the A04, which will lead to another round of headaches. I don't need 1:1 pixel mapping for anything I do right now, and most future games will most likely support wide aspect resolutions.

It wouldn't be that big of a deal for me if NVIDIA would fix the flat panel scaling option in the 8800 driver. With both scaling options broke (monitor and video card) I'm screwed. I'm forced to play Rainbow Six: Vegas at 1920x1200 and that's just too much to ask for after the crappy job Ubi did porting it over to the PC. The game is beautiful and everything but I've got to lower the res and I can't stand scaling lower resolutions.

hey just thoguht i'd chime in w/ some input as i have this monitor, i believe i had a similar problem but i fixed it somehow, i play wc3 at 16 x 12 w/ black bars at the sides. I believe this is what you are trying to do? I think I had to lower the resolution first to 800x600 and then somehow the option became availible. give it a try and let me know how it turns out. gl

Check this thread out. It looks like Rev. A04 has the same problem.

What the hell is going on with these monitors? The main reason I went with Dell was because this was an option in the menu. I wish I would have kept my old 2005 so that when a game didn't support widescreen or couldn't run at 1920x1200 I could us that monitor. I never had a problem with Wide Mode with that monitor.

Does anyone think this has anything do do with HDCP?

I just received my 2407 yesterday and been fooling around with the settings. I saw the wide mode menu, couldn't change it. So, I bumped the resolution down to 1600x1200 and the Sharpness option became available. Bumped the rez down even more to 1280x1024 and the rest of the options became available including wide mode. Like fearofthenight was saying, bump your res down to something other than the native res and it should work. I have an A03 and using DVI fyi.

That doesn't work for me. I've got Rev 02.
