For anyone who has ever had it you most likely enjoyed drinking it.. its 35% abv and you can sip it on ice like its candy.

This is what it says on the guavaberry website

"We are unable to send Guavaberry and other liquors from St Maarten to the US & Canada at this time. The best way to obtain our products would be to come to St Maarten and visit our shop. We wish we had better news for you."

So my theory is that they will not import it because they want people to come visit the island just to get the stuff.. but they are still losing sooo many sales. I don't get it.

It is supposedly grown in Florida now.. why the hell isn't any other company making it?

From what I can tell it's not some sort of prohibition. The company apparently has always had limited distribution, and doesn't currently have an importer for the product in the U.S. If you think it's that good, fly down there and nail down the distribution rights :).

Edit: looks like GagHalfrunt's link explains why it has been tough for them to get a distributor.

I don't much like flavoured rums.

I prefer a nice bottle of Mount Gay Extra Old.

I don't like any sugary, sweet, syrupy alcohol. Blech. You can FEEL all that sugar going to your body.

I'd rather drink a real dry drink (hard regular liquor, etc) and enjoy a real candy bar instead.

Yeah.. don't knock it til you've tried it. People would easily pay double the price for it in this country.

I was trying to bring some Havana Club rum back to the US from Italy. It was promptly confiscated by customs :(

you could have said it was 70 proof, or started with the 35% abv

But calling it "35% Rum" led me to believe it was a blend or something.
