Why can't gamefly be like netflix...

Seriously... I return a netflix movie at my mailbox at work in the morning on Monday and I'll have a new movie in my mailbox on wednesday of that week. I also returned a game to gamefly on Monday and it's Friday and they still haven't even received it.

I know its an issue of scale, Netflix has been around longer and has more shipping distro centers... but come on....

I think the bigger question is why doesn't Netflix provide their service for games?
 
I think so... I got a wii and then pay like $26 a month for 2 at a time. 1 for me and 1 for my fiance. There turnaround time is just so slow. But I thinks its better than buying the games because if you dont like it, you can just return it for a new one.

I basically ended my gamefly subscription when I was using the 2 game at a time sub and literally only got 3-4 games a month due to absolutely abysmal turnaround. I'd send a game in and expect to see the next game anywhere from one to two weeks later.
 
i had gamefly for a month. it was ok. but i was not impressed.

wish netflix did games. that would be great.

I prefer to go to Gamestop (there's like 6 in my town), find what I'm looking for used (cheaper than new usually), and if I don't like it, return it for a full refund and/or a different game. Love their used game policy.

I think it depends on your local post office and where you live in terms of distance to the distribution center.

When I lived in S. FL I would get faster service from the CA center then PA. But then again my post office is great it would get scanned and I would get the shipped out next day. Purchasing games with the coupons is great for the holidays imo.

My friend apparently did that quite often for a while. The manager of the store may get preturbed with you after a few months, but usually where there's one gamestop, there's bound to be 2 more within 5 miles of it (there's actually 2 in our local mall here, and 4 more within 10 minutes of it).

It's their CORPORATE return policy, I think 14 day satisfaction guarantee on used games.

If I remember correctly - you have 7 days to return the used game for a full refund. If their policy is 14 days, then 8-14 is probably for a store credit.

ummmm from it was 7 days if you didnt like it and 8-30 if it was became defective or is defective.. no 8-14 for store credit

when I had GF a few months ago, it was very slow, but not only that, i'd have like 25 games in my Q and would never get anything new. I'd always end up with like game #15 or higher off my list. That got annoying.
 
For clarification - I'm pretty sure it's 14 days (I think that's what the clerk told me when I picked up All Pro 2k8), but it might be 7. Either way, 7 days or 14 days, should be plenty long enough to determine whether you LIKE a game or not.

What really irritates me are sometimes you find their USED games can actually be more expensive than the new ones. I've seen a few instances of that. Ironically, they can't do anything about it either - I've asked. They said their prices are set by corporate and even though managers "can" adjust a price, corporate usually bothers them about it in an annoying fashion.

I usually stick to games that have been on the shelf a while, if it costs more than $14.99 used it's not worth it to me. Of course I don't usually play first-rans either.

I use gamefly on and off. I hate going into stores like gamestop, so it's a better alternative for me. Cheaper then buying them all online.

the trick is not to have a queue. I have a 0 queue until I return a game, then put 1 game in there. even if its "low" availability, thats the one I get. I've never gotten a game I wanted so far.

Yea I found gamefly way too slow. I still don't get why Netflix doesn't rent games (they may as well throw in porn too while they are at it!).

they havent even said they recieved the game I returned. And once they get it, my 1 game ships out quick. I dont think thats the case.
 
I love gamefly. Their keep it prices are great, and I get 10% off on game purchases for being a member for over a year. Plus, you get a $5 off coupon for game purchases every 3 months. I got fallout 3 for $35 🙂
