Why can I not find a release date for NBA Jam on the 360?

OK, not really. As far as I know, "in time for the Holidays" is the only date given.

It was supposed to be a partial release added to NBA Elite as a freebie. Then everyone realized NBA Elite sucked so EA cancelled it a week before release, along with the partial release of NBA Jam that was to come with it. Now it will be released this year as a full game with extra play modes some time this year.

Yeah I'm familair with the history of the game. I just was surprised that there hasn't been a shelf date announced yet. If its going to be out in the next month or so I'll wait. If not I'll scoop it up for the Wii.

From the last I read, the NBA Jam team was only notified last week (along with the rest of the world) that it was going to be a stand-alone game since Elite 11 was being delayed/canceled. They are basically in a hurry to throw together an online component and a few more modes so the game can actually be sold as a stand-alone product justifiably.

That's the reason there's been no release date announced yet, this whole thing is still a work in progress.

I wish they would just release it now as a Live Arcade game via download for like $15-20. I'm sure now EA is going to find a way to milk people for $59.99.

It already had online for the HD versions. They are adding the campaign mode.

Well, the Wii version is $49.99 so expect at least that with the PS3/Xbox 360 version.
