I have a asus a7v600 mobo with a built in lan (3com) i'm on a linksys besfr41 ver.2 router thats hooked up to a cable modem i'm running win xp home. problem i boot up into windows and log on to the enternet the first time and get message no conection found i then click on retry and boom my homepage and the enternet works. any ideas? this is what i've tryed installed a new lyinksys nic, installed a new linksys router besfr41 ver.3, installed new cable modem but still this problem i should also add my network works great

Check under the NIC properties to see if "Power Save" mode is enabled. Power save shuts down the NIC after some period of inactivity.

Good Luck

I don't think the onboard lan is at fault.
I'm getting confused by what you mean by logging on to ethernet?

I think he meant Internet. Just a typo.

So I'm guessing you have the router set to logon to your internet connection when you initiate it, instead of just being always on? If that is the case you can set the router to never timeout, I believe linksys has that option.
