Why buy friggin' music?!

K, so this is starting to piss me off! I decided to do the honorable thing, and start purchasing music through walmart music online.

Now I find that I can't play any damn music because for some stupid reason the Panasonic SV-MP35V player I have won't play WMA protected files!!

Is there any good reason why I shouldn't just go back to downloading music off bit torrent?!?!!

I'm SOOO angry I just wanna smash this piece o crap mp3 player, for it would at least give me a moment of satisfaction.

Yep, even buying CDs is becoming annoying, as copy protection comes on them too, and is getting more insidious - I'm told many CDs are now shipping in a format not supported by most drives.

Edit: of course I still won't pay what they are asking (.75+) but they aren't exactly losing money on me. If I couldn't get the music for basically nothing I wouldn't get it. I've only bought two CDs in my entire life. The only reason I have the music collection I do is because it cost next to nothing.

As with most thigns in life, ignorance is not a valid excuse. Perhaps these restrictions are bothersome to some, but in the end, they provide degress of freedom that are acceptable.

It's like having someone come back from the store with stacks of DVDs only to find out that DVDs will not work in their portable CD player.

There are a variety of sources that tell you what is required and such, and overlooking them is no ones fault but yours,

I can transfer them to a device.
I can re-rip them to use them for video projects.

WTF is the big deal.

Protections schemes are quite liberal if you ask me, unelss you are trying to share the music and such.
