why buy a shuttle xpc (sn25p specifically)

okay, i've been planning on building a new computer for awhile, and i've fallen in LOVEEEee with the sn25p, but i still need to pass it by my dad before i can buy it (i'm only 17). but he utterly refuses to even consider the sn25p because he thinks its size and features don't justify its high price (which isn't even that high), and also my whole system comes out to be around 700-800, which isn't even that much these days!

what could i say to persuade him that the sn25p really IS worth it???

By buying it with your own money.

So, you get a $100 mobo. That means the case is $250. Thats really exepnsive. You should be shelling out $200 if you want that case.

You can get a normal ATX case for $50. I can see why your dad thinks its a waste.

You're paying for more than just the hardware with the shuttle. You're paying for excellent build quality, a great quality PSU, portability, silence, space saving, a relatively high end air cooler, all in the size of something much more powerful.

Not if you want a quality case. Think of eges, weight, acoustics. If you're buying cheap crap that won't last long and you can just throw away, sure a $50 case gets the job done. Bah.

Decent case: $75-$125
Good PSU: $50-$75
Motherboard: $80-$110
High quality CPU cooler: $25-$40


You are also gaining the high build quality, compact size, acoustic performance.

Shuttle have quality control issues - just be sure that the SN25P has good reliability reviews from current owners so that if you do get it, it'll have been the right decision.

Just do the math, then add in the fact that the component mix inside the sn25p was *planned* that way, instead of thrown together with a pile of off the shelf parts.

I think mine was worth every penny when I bought it, and is still worth it.

On the other hand, I didn't ask somebody else to pay for it.
