Also because in the next 3 weeks we have the 7600GT, 7900GT, 7900GTX, 1900XL, 1800GTO, and possibly a r590 card coming out!

Also, the retail Powercolor comes with a lifetime warranty for like $20 more.

High video cards are pretty much universally a bad buy performance to dollar-wise. And there's only a handful of people that have to have "the best".

Because Evga offers a free SLI motherboard (easy overclocking with me experience, as well), with the purchase of a 350 dollar factory overclocked 7800GT with a lifetime warrenty at the same site.

Yes, that's true but honestly a 7800GT isn't in the same class as an X1900XT IMO. Isn't the performance of a single X1900XT about the same as two 7800GT's?

The only card that NV has that really compares to this XT is the 7800GTX 512, which newegg doesn't even have in stock.

That's why you take advantage of eVGAs step up program ;). Even so, If I were to get a the x1900xt, which is a great card of course, I would need to spend money on a 80 dollars PCI mobo, + another 480 for the video card. So compare 560 to 350....that's 210 dollars savings from someone coming off of AGP, which I was. If I'd all ready had PCI-E, than yeah, I would of got the x1900 for better performance. I just needed an excuse to get on the PCI-E boat, and eVGA gave me plenty of excuses.

With the impending massive price drops on nvidia parts, this is a particularly bad time to buy a new video card. I wouldn't buy a new one from either company right now.

I bought a top-end video card once in my life. It was a Diamond Viper, and cost a whopping $180 and had the latest and greatest NVidia Riva128 GPU. It was the worst bang-for-buck purchase I ever made. Its really not a good investment to buy a top end card, unless you need to game at 1920 x 1200 resolution or higher.

git.

how in the hell is a 7800GTX 512meg a better investment then the X1900XT? The only way i can ever see the 7800GTX 512 version being better a better investment then a x1900xt is if u have a SLI BOARD and u intend on upgrading to SLI. But even then, there are countless reviews on the x1900XT spanking.. and YES i seriously mean SPANKING a 7800GTX.

The only real investment would be getting a hella cheap 7800GT in SLI with 2 19 inch monitors. Because there is no way in hell u would ever go 1600x1200 + resolution. And at 1280x1024 resolution, the 1900XT and the 7800GT's performance would be bearly noticible.

Anyhow, if you have the monitor for this beefy card, then a 1900XT is a way better investment then a overpriced 7800GTX 512meg.

Also, id wait and check out the dual gpu 7900's that are going to come out soon. there is no way a x-fire x1900xt will be able to topple a quad SLI 7900GTX.
