Why aren't there more ITX cases?

Not the cube kind, I'm talking, just big enough for an ITX mobo. Preferably with an external laptop-style power adapter?

Something like an HEC ITX200A, but smaller.

I have an iStarUSA case that's nearly perfect, but they discontinued them. :(

Edit: I found a "spiritual successor" to the iStarUSA case on ebay:

Seems like a very similar chassis and PSU design, right down to the USB and SATA/molex side access panel.

Because it's such a tiny market. :D

With big potential.

There's at least 16 sub-4L cases listed on the OCN SFF Club page and 27 4-7L cases and not all are cubes. Just the adorable ones. ;-)

cuz they are also a Pain to build with requiring your SO/GF/Daughter with very small hands to sometimes get a wire tac'd down because ur fingers wont make it without getting war scars from the case build.. :p

After building one ITX build, I think it is time to ditch some of the wires and connectors they have in computer cases. Like why do we need a P4 plug when we already have a power connector? It just gets in the way and is usually on the other side of the CPU from the Main Power Connector. Then you have to run connectors for things like Microphone and sound jacks; how antiquated is that? I thought with HDMI and USB that should not be needed. Then there are all those multiple kinds of USB connectors like USB2, USB3, Small USB3, etc. Then there are fans and video cards. Seems like engineers should be fixing these problems.

Then there comes some life savers like a M.2 card and losing the floppy and DVD drives. I still used a DVD drive just for loading the operating system and I still have a hard drive. They make those kind of hard to hook up in a small case. I still dont trust a SSD drive.

I wonder if they will start selling STX computers they look kind of promising. They had this platform called Thin Mini-ITX that looked like it could get rid of a lot of wires including all those Power connectors and that giant bulky power supply.

You could possibly ditch all the sound connectors on a motherboard. They make fine USB headphones and digital microphones. That could free up more room for other connectors. Lately I have been using HDMI with no sound except for what comes out of an HDTV.

Yes. For my new build, why I'm probably not getting the Dan4, Ncase M1, nor the Fractal Core 500.

Just about decided on the Phanteks Evolv Mini-ITX... one of the larger Mini-ITX's out there it seems. I plan on a significant OC on the cpu w/ either an AIO or HSF.

That segment is increasingly served by NUCs. DVD drives have been mostly phased out at this point. Most people don't need a second hard drive. Gamers usually want something bigger. So where does ITX really fit anymore?
