Why aren't there more duplexing printers?

Looking on newegg for an inexpensive color laser all in one, almost non support auto duplexing. Why is this not mandated? It is such a huge waste to print a 300 page document and use all 300 sheets of paper when it can be done on 150.

Its almost like they are several hundred more for this feature. My HP CLJ 4650dn just has a different firmware to allow the paper to switch in the fuser. There is not a single extra part inside, all software so there is no added cost for the OEM.

Because duplex units are too expensive to put in a $50 throwaway desktop printer, and color laser printers aren't cheap to begin with.

Business class MFPs all have duplex units these days, and the small office models typically have the option to add one or a model version with a duplex unit built in. You can get a small office unit with duplex and color for less than $200. Here's a Xerox Phaser with color and duplex for $189, you're not going to get one cheaper.

I've had a xerox 8560 solid ink printer for a few years and it's been great. But yeah you got to pay more to get the duplex and networking features.

These days el cheapo ink jets come with the duplexer for free. I wish my laserjet had one because printing on two side just doesn't work once the paper curls up.

Long live the Phasers! LOL.

I've got two myself. They really are amazing printers for their age.

I was looking for a multifunction copier scanner printer. Needs to be color laser as my parents print so little the ink carts dry up within a few months.
