why aren't there more dogs in zombie movies

will smith had a dog in his zombie movie, but there aren't too many dogs in zombie movies

with a dog's sense of smell, seems like a good dog would be 2nd behind an automatic shotgun for zombie fighting

They are liable to get infected, you have to feed/care for them, and they can attract zombies.

Well this did give me an idea:

Old Yeller 2: Resurrection. Some dogs don't play dead.





Of course all they really do is come back to hump the legs of the living.

Because dogs are smarter than people and at the first sign of the zombie apocalypse they get the fuck outta town and hide in the woods.

good idea, but i don't mean zombie dogs

good corollary though, why aren't there more animal zombie movies?
Resident Evil series had Zombie dobermans, right?

hard enough to watch out for yourself, much less having to care for/feed a dog... and once it attacks a zombie trying to defend itself, it gets zombiefied and you have to go all old yeller on its ass.

yeah, it really depends, if the infection affects other animals then dogs might not be a good idea

'dawn of the dead' remake had one, and actually somewhat set off the chain of events that changes things for the group.

i still chuckle though at 'shaun of the dead' having a zombie in a wheelchair.
