Why aren't there H-IPS clear panel LCD monitors with RGB LED and 120Hz refresh rate?

I love my Apple LED Cinema Display, but it's WLED and it can't do 120 Hz, so the input lag is noticeable with vsync on (for example, moving the mouse is much zippier in XP than in 7, and there is noticeable delay with input lag compared to my CRT @ 85 Hz, that I used for a while). If I turn vsync off, then there is tearing. 120 Hz is a good idea because it halves input lag.

My mouse is 2 ms (if I'm not mistaken) and my keyboard seems like it's even faster than that.

Is it likely there will ever be a 120Hz monitor with a clear (glossy) H-IPS panel and RGB LED?

Why don't any monitor vendors offer custom made monitors?

Maybe for the same reason 10+ year old CRTs still have higher maximum pixel density ...

In order to maximize prophets they must advance as slow as possible.
And come up with cool sounding new catch phrases or fads (ie: widescreen) to justify whatever it is they aren't doing ...

Ohh and power usage for LCDs is about the same as a CRT with the same number of pixels ....
Amazing !

Atleast LCDs weigh less and take up less desk space

hmm yes. I'm surprised theres so few >60Hz LCD monitors out there. Users are reviewers trying out a 120hz monitor all rave about how smooth the desktop is, and solid 3d games look. Even my linux brother was impressed with an lg w2363d.

The competition doesn't work good enough, or too good, or there is not enough mind share about 120hz and ips out there? The only complaints I had about the lg w2363d was that is wasnt 1920x1200, the PITA touch buttons and really bad vertical viewing angle (couldn't see what was on the top shelves in Fallout 3).

But if there is more mind share, and one of the manufacturers decide to up the ante, we can get this rolling. So please email them and ask for things like 120hz, 16:10, h-ips, rgb-led, input lag etc. The sharpness, vivid colors and 120hz smoothness of the lgw2363d really makes my CRT look old :)

You got $3,000 sitting around for a computer monitor? And I'm being conservative here.

Id be willing to buy a 120hz 30" or a 60hz 30" with a QFHD or 4k resolution. But I dont have $60k lying around for a monitor.

LOL. That would make for a nice fantasy thread though. "what is your dream LCD setup in the next 10yrs?"

I'd like 4k res in 3D on a ~48" LCD (best of whatever, H-IPS, OLED, etc) for <$2k.

I'm not unrealistic, not looking for the holodeck or immersion VR with goggles (not in 10yrs at least). But I would like >30" single screen (no bezels) in 3D with an affordable GPU solution to power it all.

You are a horrible person. Really WTF glossy?
Well I wouldn't put it like that, but yeah - glossy?

And personally I don't notice the difference between 60 and 120hz for desktop usage and I wouldn't want to pay a four digit sum for a monitor (my 24" dell IPs is good enough)

Why don't any monitor vendors offer custom made monitors?

For every time someone asks, "Why won't any computer company make XYZ," the stock answer is, "because there is no profit to be made in it." Trust me, if there was profit to be made, it would either be already on the market, or someone out there is trying to bring it to market.

Note that this is not static. As technology and manufacturing processes progress through time, what was once impossible may eventually become possible.

diverging needs and markets. it's like wanting a nvidia quadro 6000 and wanting it to max out crysis 2 or wanting a pair of headphones to also function as speakers.

I had dual 19" CRT's, now have dual 24" LCD's...add in a 4:3 to 16:9 transition as well. And there is no way in hell my dual 24" LCD's are pumping out as many watts of heat into my study as my dual 19" LCD's did.
Oh yeah those old CRTs were hell. And just thinking about trying to stash 2 24" CRTs on my desk (not just the size, I think I'd need to make sure it doesn't break down ;) )

A 120hz IPS would have too much ghosting for 3d. Outside of 3d, the market for a 120hz gaming lcd is just too small to justify introducing one. While I appreciates how fluid games run on my 120hz, neither my friend or my brother can notice any significant difference. For now the image quality is tolerable on the better 120hz TN screens.

I have two Samsung PVA panels (stunningly cheap) and it's almost an overwhelming display rig. For text and graphics they're great for me, esp. for the price. But there's ghosting and video is not the greatest. But for a $300 dual display desktop it's hard to beat.
