These guys are on the team, last time I checked.
A kicker can win the game for you.
Punter can make it easier for you to win the game.

That's always bothered me that they dont get any recognition.

its not just MNF to be fair.

Special teams or not, theyre on the team, they start, and could be the most important player on the field if called on.

I mean look at Adam Vinateri. Where would the Pats be without him?

Its only two more players, its not as if youre naming all the ST players.

true, but then youd have to name all the other players on special teams. it would take to long to get settled into the game.

I don't know what your definition of "start" is, but they aren't on the field during the first offensive or defensive possession.

There's a reason kickers aren't picked in the first rounds of the NFL draft (Sebastian Janikowski is an exception, but only because the Raiders GM is crazy). I agree kickers and punters can make or break a game (e.g. Scott Norwood, Adam Vinatieri, John Casay, that Jacksonville kicker who lost that game last year cause he missed that extra point, the list goes on and on), but a good kicker is not as important as a good running back, tackle, or wide receiver. The difference between a good and bad kicker is much much smaller than the difference between a good running back, quarterback, or tackle.

well i should say 'first team' instead of starters.
im not disagreeing w/ you.

i just think they should get recognition.

maybe cuz im just more curious to see where these guys come from, i guess.

well, don't feel too bad for them. they are getting paid in the 6 figures for just kicking. not too shabby.
