Why aren't photchromic contact lenses available?

Seems as if transition type contact lenses would be common at this point but I can't say I've ever even heard of it, which begs the question why? Anybody willing to share their insights?

I believe Nike makes them for sports.

Maybe the photosensitive chemicals haven't passed safety regulations for being put in your eye?
