Why aren't LAN parties more common on here?

I think it would be somewhat common to have LAN parties scheduled for people on AT . I feel it should be more common. I have only seen a couple of them and they were all too far away from me. post your thoughts.

I do believe you just answered your own question. I'd gladly drive 1.5-2 hours away to meet some folks and have some fun...but this is a BIG country you know. 😉

Thats exactly my point. The few I have seen have been in KY or Indiana or some other place on the other side of the country.

<< I wont to see one in cali. >>

Same here.......S. Cali would be better as Cali is a big state and I dont think I would drive more than about 3 or 4 hours for a LAN party.

The fact remains that even though I have a prescense on AT, I don't care enough to really meet most of the people on here, let alone drag my system so I can destroy everyone here at CS. Sorry 😛

You'd think that the midwest didn't exist around here. You never hear about anything about gatherings, LAN parties or the like. It's all Canada and New England all the time...

I go to lans with my friends and I used to attend Tango lans regularly. LANs, IMO, just aren't that fun.

I'm actually going to one late in May down in Austin. Going to be there with a bunch of my clan dudes. Should be a blast.

.:edit:. I should mention that I also used to attend most CPL events in Dallas and take my system to the BYOC. Last time I went, assholes put several viruses on my HD on all my partitions which I couldn't get out with Norton. Had to do a full system format. Not fun.

I'd say it's mostly the distance thing mentioned earlier. The only reason we had so many (like 30+ I think) at LastKnight's LAN is that Metro Atlanta currently occupies most of north georgia. Plus it's only two hours to Birmingham, Chattanooga, Greenville, and Macon.
