Why aren't democrats calling the GOP on obstruction?

Basically, after all the hoopla about filibustering extremist judges like Alito and democrats caving, the republicans have pretty much forced everything to even function with a supermajority. And in the end they blame the democrats for not getting anything done. Sadly, the 'liberal media' never mentions this at all.

Stopping the winning strategy of the surge seems rather extreme.

In fact, you are wrong. The GOP is not using more filibusters than the Dems. And even if they were, the GOP is only fighting for what's best for America. Do you want what's bad for America? Then let the Dems have their way. Because the GOP does not make mistakes, errors, or have lapses in judgment. You are un-American, un-patriotic and a complete idiot for suggesting that the GOP is obstructionist in any way. The GOP is only fighting for what's best for America. Do you want what's bad for America? Then let the Dems have their way. They hate America. I bet you hate America too.

Ummmm . . . I think it might be because rants like that still get people to vote against the Dems and for the GOP.

No facts, but lots of assertions, said passionately and with conviction.

Never admit a mistake, never admit defeat. Call your actions and policy positions something that people want to hear. When those actions and policies don't even resemble what you've called it, question the patriotism of anyone who tries to call you on it. That way you can call yourself a capitalist, free market de-regulator and fiscal conservative and then ask Congress to give you hundreds of billions of dollars to spend without supervision in order to cover the losses of big businesses who made foolish investments while running a war on two fronts and promising tax cuts for the middle class while making sure that businesses can use known loop holes in the tax code to dodge hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes every year. Oh, and the size of the national debt and budget deficits don't matter because America is great and we will just grow our way out of any problems because we are so great.

It has worked for them for over eight years, why would they change now? People are still buying what they are selling.

Very well said, and an impotant point. The only think I'd add now is that the record they're about to triple, is the record the GOP set the last time it was a minority.

The GOP playbook's #1 rule must to remember that the American people have a memory shorter than goldfish, as they go from obstructing to criticizing obstructionist democrats.

Does post hoc ergo propter hoc mean anything to you?

Shit - Republicans were on the Tube this morning blaming Democrats and 'Big Gub'mint' for the financial greed of the speculators and moneychangers.

There will always be a 35-40% Red Block. If they keep up this crap they will be a permanent minority broken into multiple factions by their own divisiveness. It actually started in the South 10 or so years ago on the local level. Contards 'fracture' government and even reasonable people - conservatives included - find that reprehensible.

I like how they come up with giant convoluted explainations for how it's the democrats fault when occam's razor pretty much shows it's all phil gramm's fault and the congress and president that passed the law.
