Closest one to me is 2.5 hours away. To be honest, if I had the cash I wouldn't mind going and pickup up a few and sending them out for cost+shipping+gas money to a few people. But at $200+tax a pop, I can't front that kind of money. Hell, I'd be happy to do so because I actually need to go to Fry's too.

guess i'm lucky i live 25min away from the santa clara branch(probably 800 miles closer to washington). got my 9550 already(mit 5&#37; discount for prior purchase).

and before anyone asks. i have no MONEY.

newb question: Looking at the 860 review and the CPU benches here performance is fairly close to the i5 750. Will software change in the next few years such that we can expect a greater performance gap between these 2 parts or is what we see in these benches what we should expect to see in the intermediate term future?

Same here lol. I'm like 15 minutes north of microcenter via 101, and 2 minutes from the freeway where I live lol. I also work at frys in palo alto if anyone ever has questions on our stuff.

$20 difference between the 750 and the 860...easy to go with the 860.

On the home page if you scroll down and see the add with the i7 860 for example it states the following.

Presidents Four Day Special 2/12 thru 2/15 so it looks like thru Monday. Now exactly what prices will change after the 15th will be unkown till the 16th.

Most likely tho the i7 860 and i7 920 will go back up to $229 the others may or may not change.

Microcenter did run the i7 920 for the longest time at $199. The i7 860 has always been $229. The i5 750 and Q9550 have been as low as $159-$169 in the past.

TBH, if someone REALLY wanted it bad enough for me to pick one up for them, I would do this, then pay + tax, shipping and gas as soon as I ship. Like I said, I wish I could help people out up front, but there's only enough room on my credit card for maybe 2 or so.
