Why are you guys putting REMOVE in the middle of your email addresses in your profiles?

Some people put NOSPAM for the reason that Fausto stated previously. I think that's why some people are just stupid for putting their e-mail addresses on these forums in plain view (i.e. Free Carfax threads. "My VIN is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ... please e-mail me the results at dumb@ss.com").

Just ignore werk...typical Cranky Yankee. :p
You better watch out, I'm exceptionally cranky today. :p

I think it's because I'm leaving tomorrow for New Orleans and am anxious to get away from work.

Don't you think spiders are smart enough to know that REMOVE in an email address is suppsoed to be removed?

I would think that every spam spider has already found that trick out and bypassed it.

Ah...but what if we all created/signed up for legitimate emails with the word "remove" in them. That would really throw them off!

I would have to agree with this. If I were writing a spider, I would make it smart enough to remove those tags and stuff.

then again, anyone who was like somedude@remove.com would be spam free.

I can't believe I agree with LordJezo. That's crazy
REMOVE, NOSPAM, etc, hasve been around for probably a decade in usenet, its not effective anymore

If I were flying through ATL, I'd do you one better by bringing you crawfish bread from Jazzfest, but unfortunately, my return flight is through Miami. :(

Simple..

If !(remove apears after the @ and right before the . ) then..
remove remove
End if.

But anyway, if Spammers are smart enough to beat almost every anti spam feature ever designed, they wont have a problem with any sort of tricks in people hiding their email address.

i think we should sticky this so people can see that sometimes strangers do agree with him.

also: that is a really good point. i was thinking about this the other day.

and beattie, missing the rare "removeme@mydomain.com" would seem worth it to all the supposedly protected emails youd be getting.
