Why are we willing to allow people to starve on the streets while Republicans sit on their rich fat asses denying COVID relief?

Democrats passed a second COVID stimulus at least 6 months ago. Republicans are willing to let people starve and lose their homes just to make things hard for Biden. These same Republicans were so eager to pass tax cuts for the rich and corporations and now they want to sit on their hands while Rome burns. Mark my words as soon as Biden takes office they will revert to austerity and try to leave Democrats holding the bad with the mess they made.

Because the alternative is civil war. Which is a whole lot worse.

-----------------

Also, in my circles there is a certain elitist attitude. It is basically they voted for that, let them reap what they have sown. Demographically, it is hard to argue, poor white people broke for Trump in a big way.

I will be honest, I am part of a minority that Trump and his following have demonized. I am also not effected by this economic disaster. They want me dead. Why should I not just watch while they suffer in a disaster they made? I did not vote for it. In my lovely California town everyone is being taken care of, we even put all* the homeless in the hotels.

This a red state problem. One they created for themselves. They hate me. They elected a man who has done everything in his power to destroy me. They ignored the warnings about covid. They could not be bothered to wear a mask. Why should I lift a finger to help them? Let them wallow in their own shit.

*this was not actually possible. We discovered many homeless people did not want to not be homeless. Regardless, medical care and food is available to them, along with a monthly stipend check in most cases.

The alternative may be revolution, but that is only likely if we peasants don't get fed.
Where I live everyone is taken care. It will not happen here.

I am not sure if you have ever driven into CA, but there are check points on the intra-state borders for every access. For years it has been for agricultural produce control. Which is why the state built the checkpoints to block every lane on every road if needed. A number of the access points are in very rough desert areas, or through mountain passes.

It is true traffic into/from Oregon is less regulated, but then Oregon and Washington state are both in the same agricultural control program.

------------------

Look, if GA elects to democratic senators then it is time to fix what can be fixed.

But odds are that is not going to happen. Odds are the republicans will log jam everything and nothing will be done. A whole bunch of people are going to die, more then the 300,000 who have died already. This is what the republicans want. This is what 47% of this country voted for.

Why should I go march or donate my money to save people from the hate they elected?

------------------

Look who actually voted democrat. Rich people, Suburbanites, educated people, and minorities. The plan is to jump the minorities up to tier 2.5 on the vaccination schedule, on the basis they are disproportionately effected by the virus. This will be done through executive action.

Front line medical personal are scheduled for vaccine late December 2020. 2nd line medical personnel/nursing home January/February. It is hoped to do meat plant workers, disproportionately effected minorities, and certain essential workers March/April.

After that it will be tier 3, people over 65, most likely late May early June.

After that it will be tier 4, everyone else, late June early July.

Without senate control there is not much anybody can do beyond that. Yes, a lot of people are going to die. Far more are going to be unemployed, homeless, and starving. What can be salvaged from this intentionally created disaster will be.

I have lived in CA since 1977. This state has a rent to income level that is unsustainable. Revolution may be the only remedy.

P.S. I curse howard jarvis every day.
Oh, so that is the origin of that moronic property tax policy.

I immigrated here right after Trump was elected. My first choice was Canada, but that turned into a rather difficult option. I decide to go for the next best choice, CA. I was able to buy a condo on arrival in a very blue area. As such, avoided the ravishes of the rental market and managed to lock in a very low interest rate on my mortgage.

It's California's way of saying old property owners are special and need to be protected from all of the value gains of their property. New to state, young, FU.

Just goes to show how we need to take all politicians out to pasture and get a refresh.

Thats exactly what you tried with Trump... 60M still thinks its a bright idea. Grass is always not greener.
Want real change, vote progressive democrats... Why do you think the conservative powers that be is crapping themselves over AOC and kin? Cause AOC means power back to the people means power away from them.

It's hard to argue? I'll just flat out tell you - you're wrong.

Trump voters were statistically above-average income.

So yeah, you will be hard to argue your incorrect statement that "poor white people" are the voters of Trump

I'll just leave this here.

Most notably, the stark economic rift that Brookings Metro documented after Donald Trump’s shocking 2016 victory has grown even wider. In 2016, we wrote that the 2,584 counties that Trump won generated just 36% of the country’s economic output, whereas the 472 counties Hillary Clinton carried equated to almost two-thirds of the nation’s aggregate economy.

A similar analysis for last week’s election shows these trends continuing, albeit with a different political outcome. This time, Biden’s winning base in 509 counties encompasses fully 71% of America’s economic activity, while Trump’s losing base of 2,547 counties represents just 29% of the economy. (Votes are still outstanding in 28 mostly low-output counties, and this piece will be updated as new data is reported.)

What does that have anything to do with what the topic of discussion was there?

Nothing.

The answer is nothing. Duhvert more.

Yes, the economically productive areas of the country have been trending more and more towards Democrats in recent years. It's not just the places with the most people, it's the engine of our economy.

The only way Republicans win nationwide elections now is by relying on counter-majoritarian institutions to give them power even when they lose the actual vote count. Their attempts to win by actually appealing to the most Americans are over, and unless the party changes significantly I doubt we will see another Republican president win a majority in my lifetime.

In a sane world this would result in Republicans acknowledging their losses and changing, unfortunately in our world it has made them double down on trying to rig elections instead.

That's why they are so desperately hanging on to the end. As Lindsey said, if we let this stand, there will never be another Republican president. (Dumbass can't seem to figure out that what was once known as the Republican party is gone).

This is why the 'DeMoCratS NeEd to ChaNGe' takes are so stupid. The only thing that is necessary for Democrats to gain power over most of the country is for everyone's vote to count the same.

You would think that in a democracy having everyone count equally would be an uncontroversial position but...here we are.

To answer the question in the title:

Because Republicans and conservative media just have to say "Democrats are holding up your stimulus in favor of personal pork projects" and 200 million Americans are utterly incapable of verifying that statement and 150 million of them just think "that sounds right" and it instantly becomes truth.

Bullshit. Mitch told trump he didn't have the R votes for the white house proposal that Mnuchin was working with the dems on.
As usual you just pass on bullshit, hurting our country by being so uninformed.
It isn't just uninformed, it's intentional dishonesty and bullshit. He's a fucking liar.

What does that have anything to do with what the topic of discussion was there?
Nothing.
The answer is nothing. Duhvert more.
The answer isn't nothing just because you don't agree with it, you stupid fuck. Lie more.
