Why are used PS3's the same price as retail?!

Every PS3 that has been for sale on Anandtech is selling for full retail price! WHY?! There isn't a shortage anymore!

All I want is a cheap PS3! And everyone thinks their PS3's never depreciate!!!

For example, I can go to my local Wal-Mart and pick up a PS3 for $399. But I figured, "Meh, I'll just grab a used one of Anandtech and save some money."

Did a quick search and found that all the PS3's being sold on Anandtech are being priced at retail or higher!

Yeah, join the crowd. Except around here, Walmart and all of the other stores I've been to (though I admit I haven't shopped around that much) are *still* completely out of stock of all Playstations. Both PS2 and PS3 (all models). :|

Why? Because too many price drops. Limited supply. Or lack of information.

Same goes for the iPhones. Sellers were selling iphones that couldn't be unlocked at that time for higher than Retail. I spoke with someone today about unlocking iPhones. He thought that you had to get a 2Year contract from the store to get the iPhone. And some don't know that the price drop. It's whatever to them, as ignorance still gets them happy.

I'm talking about the 40GB model. It doesn't even have backwards capability.

That makes no sense; I figured it would have been the backwards compatibility thing.

Yeah, thats what I thought it would be. In the past I remember seeing people try to say they were doing others a favor as this way they could use paypal to buy something, and not only that but they are cheaper (and don't forget the sales tax you're saving on too).

I've posted some things for sale on the Facebook marketplace and I swear the people on there have no clue about anything. I'll get messages asking why my price is so low, then I respond and they say they wanted to see if I was a scammer ( ), then they lowball me (as in offer me 1/3 my asking price that apparently was too low to begin with?). I've also had people complain that my price isn't fair because they can get it on eBay for 20% more than my asking price (and thats not including the shipping costs).

Because there are people out there stupid enough to pay full price for a used part.
